THE DECLINE’s “Can I Borrow A Feeling?” EP comes after spending the last few years since the release of their “Are You Gonna Eat That?” album touring Australia, Japan and Europe playing as many shows in as many places as possible. When asked about the new material the band writes “The name Can I Borrow A Feeling? comes from the idea that we are starting to write songs about different things, most of the songs on this record are about living and dying, and not so much about the stuff we wrote about on our first albums, oh, and there’s a song about Jesus being black too; that and we love The Simpsons”

THE DECLINE – Can I Borrow A Feeling?
Australia’s favorite skatepunks are back with a new 5-song EP called “Can I Borrow A Feeling?”. It’s The Decline’s first new release in three years after a particularly busy 2013 that saw the band touring with Descendents, Implants, Useless ID and coming over to Europe for a month. That’s all good and well but what about the songs on here? Well, they’re pretty friggin’ busy as well… fast-paced, highly melodic, plenty of dual vocal action and they come with some sweet singalong moments. Is it original? Fuck no, we already have NOFX and New Found Glory… but who cares when it’s this good and comes with an Aussie accent?

THE DECLINE – Can I Borrow A Feeling?
Fans have already gone nuts over The Decline’s new record. Skatepunk with all the vigour, political steel and humour of NOFX or Frenzal Rhomb. Makes me want to go and find the new crop of pop-punkers and slap them. Review by: Chris Cobcroft

THE DECLINE – Can I Borrow A Feeling?
The release of the last album of the enterprising Australians is a few years back (end of 2011), but now follows after months (years?) of touring in Australia, Japan and Europe a sign of life in the form of this five track maxi CD. In principle, this is a blueprint my review from back then is: NO USE FOR A NAME, LAGWAGON and Co. in the prime of their existence are the inspiration for the high-speed melodic punk rock fireworks, which THE DECLINE fire here. And there are always days where I can use that too really sleep. Beautiful appetizer for the upcoming third album.

THE DECLINE – Can I Borrow A Feeling?
When I was a child when someone talked to me about Australia, the first thing that came into my head were the kangaroos. Now that I am an adult (or at least try to be), when someone talks about Australia for me, the first thing that comes to mind is a lot of great bands they produce without stopping. From the not so distant with Bodyjar and The Living End, to the present day with Anchors, Thesis, The Decline, among many others past. After two excellent full lenghts I’m Not Gonna Lie To You and Are You Gonna Eat That?, The Decline presents us with this EP and five more songs with her ??always and unmistakable melodic punk. If they were active during the 90s, surely they would have a contract with Fat Wreck or Epitaph. This EP I highlight the song “Cool Kids Can not Die”, the best of the album, but the other songs also maintain a high standard of quality and demonstrate all the talent of the band. They do nothing groundbreaking, but they can rejuvenate the melodic punk circa 90 years in a unique manner. The Decline is undoubtedly one of the best Australian bands of today, and this EP just consolidate as one of the most competent and energetic melodic punk bands in the world. Run behind the discography of these guys, since each album is a rapture The Decline of melodies, and each of their songs is a way to relive the good old era of melodic punk. Recommended for fans of: NOFX, Lagwagon, No Use For a Name Rating: 9/10
